Chama Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse plans to open a second Houston-area location in Katy in mid-September. The restaurant will bring rodízio-style service, in which servers carve grilled meats continuously at the table, to the I-10 corridor.

The new location will occupy 24205 Bella Katy Drive at the Katy Freeway, less than a mile west of the Grand Parkway, in the former Doneraki Mexican Grill and Seafood space. General Manager Guilherme Da Silva, a Brazilian native and Katy resident, confirmed the expansion in an announcement reported by the Katy Times. Community Impact first reported Da Silva's role on Aug. 17.

Da Silva has been with Chama Gaúcha since its Galleria-area location opened at 5865 Westheimer Road in 2011. He will lead the Katy operation.

"We've welcomed many guests from Katy at our Westheimer location for so long that opening here has always been part of our vision," Da Silva said. He added that the team looks forward to bringing the experience closer to those loyal guests while introducing it to residents who live and work in the area.

The restaurant sources USDA Prime, Midwest corn-fed beef aged more than 45 days. Signature cuts include picanha, a Brazilian-style top sirloin, and filet mignon. Guests use a green-and-red card system: green signals they want more meat, red means they need a break.

A gourmet salad bar with more than 30 selections, imported cheeses and charcuterie is available on its own or alongside the full churrasco experience. Unlimited sides include caramelized bananas, garlic mashed potatoes, fried polenta and pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread.

Five private dining rooms can host groups of 20 to 150 guests for corporate events, rehearsal dinners and holiday parties.

Founded in San Antonio in 2008, Chama Gaúcha now operates two San Antonio locations plus restaurants in Houston, the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Chicago. The brand's name translates to "Gaucho's Flame" in Portuguese.

Reservations are recommended. The restaurant's website lists the Katy address as "Coming Soon" with a phone number of (346) 827-0044.
