Dunkin' is bringing a 1,850-square-foot restaurant and about 25 jobs to 136 Cane Island Parkway in Katy, with an October opening planned.
The chain announced the new location in an Oct. 7 news release, Community Impact Newspaper reported. The store will feature Dunkin's "Next Generation" design, a format the company has rolled out at select locations nationwide.
The redesigned layout includes a front-facing bakery case displaying donuts, bagels and sandwiches. Cold beverages, including iced coffee, iced tea, cold brew and nitro-infused cold brew, will pour through a tap system rather than being prepared individually behind the counter. The company also said the design emphasizes increased energy efficiency.
The format is new to Katy.
The address puts the restaurant along one of the area's fastest-developing corridors. Cane Island, the roughly 1,100-acre master-planned community near Interstate 10, has drawn steady residential growth. A June report from The Katy News found that ZIP code 77493, which covers northwest Katy, grew from about 8,500 housing units to more than 20,500 over the past decade. The area's population now exceeds 62,000 residents.
No specific opening date beyond October has been announced.
