Fulshear fell 49-7 to district-leading Bridgeland on Friday, Oct. 16, dropping the Chargers to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in District 23-6A play.

The loss was the second straight for Fulshear, which entered district play unbeaten at 5-0. The Chargers lost 24-7 at Cypress Ranch on Oct. 8 before the blowout at home against the Bears.

Bridgeland, which sits atop the 23-6A standings at 4-0 in district and 6-1 overall, scored 49 points against a Fulshear defense that had posted two shutouts earlier in the season, according to MaxPreps. The Chargers managed just seven points for the second consecutive game.

The Chargers opened the year with wins over Dekaney (28-15), Fort Bend Bush (56-0), Jersey Village (41-7), Waller (38-28) and Foster (38-0), outscoring opponents 201-50 through five games.

Junior running back Jayelen Collins rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in the Foster win, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Collins scored Fulshear's lone touchdown in the Oct. 8 loss to Cypress Ranch. He punched it in from two yards out in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7, according to Inside High School Sports. But a mishandled snap on a Fulshear punt just before halftime gave Cypress Ranch the ball at the 46-yard line, and Khristian White took it to the edge for a touchdown to put the Mustangs up 14-7 at the break.

Cypress Ranch quarterback Braden Baker, a University of Houston commit, connected with Derrick McCullar II for touchdown passes of 32 and 26 yards. Cameron Bledsoe recorded a sack on fourth down, and Antonio Murray sealed the win with a late interception.

Fulshear now sits fourth in the 23-6A standings at 2-2 and has been outscored 73-14 over its two-game losing streak. The Chargers have scored 215 points and allowed 123 on the season.

Three district games remain. Fulshear travels to George Ranch on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m., then visits Cypress Springs on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. The Chargers close the regular season at home against Cypress Park on Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
