PUCCI Café & Pet Boutique will close its LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch storefront on Saturday, Oct. 31, ending a four-year run at the Katy shopping center.
Owners Maria and Bobby Davidson said in a message to customers that they chose not to renew their lease at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Suite N200, according to My Neighborhood News, which first reported the closure.
"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision not to renew our lease in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch," the Davidsons wrote.
They did not give a specific reason beyond the lease decision.
The café opened in September 2022 after the couple launched an online pet boutique in 2019. Travels through Europe, where cafés routinely welcome dogs, inspired them to bring a similar concept to Katy.
The storefront featured espresso drinks, pastries, wine, beer and a dog bakery. Its waterfront patio overlooking Cinco Ranch Lake spanned about 2,500 square feet and included a fenced Bark Park where dogs could play under staff supervision.
Gift cards and loyalty points expire Oct. 31
Customers holding PUCCI Points or gift cards need to use them at the LaCenterra location before the doors close. The in-store and online systems are separate, so rewards and gift card balances issued for the physical store cannot be redeemed online, the Davidsons said.
Online boutique stays open
The business will not disappear entirely. PUCCI's online boutique will keep operating from a Katy-based fulfillment facility, selling pet accessories and apparel through puccicafe.com.
The Davidsons have not announced plans to open another café or retail storefront. No replacement tenant for the LaCenterra space has been identified.
When the café opened in 2022, the owners pledged to donate 5% of online and boutique merchandise sales to dog rescue organizations in the Katy and Greater Houston area. The couple's rescue dogs Tori, Kandi and Trever helped inspire the business. The Davidsons have since added a fourth rescue, Bailey.
Whether the café's employees will transition to roles with the online operation remains unclear, according to My Neighborhood News. The Davidsons encouraged customers to visit before Oct. 31 to see the team one last time.
