The Angry Elephant, a politics-themed bar and grill chain, opened its seventh Texas location on Westheimer Parkway in Katy on Monday, Oct. 19.
The new restaurant is the chain's third in the Greater Houston area, joining existing locations in Magnolia and Cypress, Community Impact reported. The Angry Elephant announced the opening in an Oct. 18 social media post.
The chain brands itself around a political theme. Menu items are named after former presidents and public figures. The Cypress location's menu, for example, lists the Obama Chicago Dog, the George W. Bush BLT Dog, the Original Trump Cheeseburger and the Al Gore Frito Pie, according to Community Impact's coverage of that opening.
Hot dogs anchor the menu. The restaurant also serves burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers such as the Merica Chicken Wings and the Ben Franklin Philly Cheese-Steak Dog, along with items like the Pacifist Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese Sandwich and the Constitutionalist Shrimp Cocktail.
The bar plays political events on its TVs with the sound on, including debates and elections at all government levels, along with sports. The chain's website describes the concept as a place "where gentlemen can agree or agree to disagree" and uses the motto "Like Your Politics, Love Your Bar."
The website also promises "liberal cocktails at conservative prices."
Aaron Cohen was identified as the chain's owner in a 2022 Community Impact report on the Magnolia location, which opened at 7030 FM 1488. The Angry Elephant's other Texas locations include San Antonio, College Station, Bryan and Little Elm, according to Community Impact.
No specific street address for the Katy location appeared in the Community Impact report. The chain's website lists a general phone number: 979-704-5110.
