The Collective Boutiques has opened its doors at 6729 South Fry Road in Katy's Cinco Ranch neighborhood, filling the storefront left empty when Painted Tree Boutiques shut down April 14.
Business representatives confirmed the soft opening to Community Impact, which reported the news Sept. 9. The Cinco Ranch store is the company's second Greater Houston location.
The marketplace rents individual spaces to independent shop owners who stock and maintain their own displays. The Collective Boutiques handles staffing, checkout, payment processing and marketing. Vendors pay a flat 10% commission on sales plus monthly rent, according to the company's website. Shoppers can browse home décor, clothing, furniture, handmade art, candles, pet products and food.
After Painted Tree ceased operations, vendors at locations across the country had to pull merchandise and find new selling space. The Collective Boutiques has since pursued several former Painted Tree storefronts, My Neighborhood News reported, positioning itself as an alternative for displaced shop owners. The two companies are not affiliated.
A grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 3.
