Katy's Central Green Park plans three Halloween events in October

Three Halloween-season events are coming to Central Green Park at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, starting with a costume contest Saturday, Oct. 3.

Willow Fork Drainage District's half-acre park at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. will host the 13th Annual Monster Mash that evening. A Día de los Muertos celebration follows Friday, Oct. 30, and a family Tent and Treat closes the month Saturday, Oct. 31, My Neighborhood News reported.

Free parking is available in LaCenterra garages and along surrounding streets.

Monster Mash costume contest: Saturday, Oct. 3

The 13th Annual Monster Mash runs 6 to 9:30 p.m. Four costume categories are up for judging: Scariest, Funniest, Best Group and Most Creative.

Registration and pre-judging run 6 to 7 p.m. Contestants should report to the tent for their chosen category. Each contestant or group may enter one category only, and winners must be present to claim prizes.

Nithya Hari will emcee. The broader celebration kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a live witches performance at 6:35 p.m. DJ Kalki leads a dance party from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by live music until 9:30 p.m. Contest finals and winner announcements close out the night.

Día de los Muertos: Friday, Oct. 30

Central Green is partnering with LaCenterra's Viva la Vida Celebration for a free Día de los Muertos event from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening centers on remembrance, culture, community and live entertainment.

Tent and Treat: Saturday, Oct. 31

Inframark, the drainage district's operations contractor, will host Tent and Treat from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of its Water Wise event. The daytime schedule gives families a trick-or-treat option before neighborhood rounds begin that evening.
