LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch will host Viva La Vida, a free Día de los Muertos celebration, on Friday, Oct. 30, in Katy.
The event spans two areas of the shopping center at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. Central Green Park opens at 5 p.m. with traditional dance performances, cultural storytelling, face painting, festive characters, Coco-inspired appearances and a stilt walker dressed as a towering Mexican doll, according to Houston on the Cheap. That portion wraps up at 7 p.m.
Heritage Square picks up at 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. with a live DJ, mariachi performances, Catrina photo ops and a Salsa Casino show.
Willow Fork Drainage District's Central Green Park said in a Facebook post that it is partnering with LaCenterra on the event.
Six food trucks will be on site: El Guajillo, The Zydeco Bowl, HOMIES, Beverly Ann's, CC's Hot Tamales and Sweets with L&L. Local vendors will also set up shop. Ambriza is hosting a separate VIP experience for guests 21 and older.
Admission is free.
Community Impact listed Viva La Vida among nine Houston-area events for the Oct. 30 weekend.
