Harris County Precinct 4 is widening Peek Road from two to four lanes between Morton Road and a point south of Clay Road.

The stretch sits north of the Grand Parkway, ending about 600 feet south of Clay Road. The $1.162 million project started in May and is expected to finish in January 2027, a Precinct 4 spokesperson told the Katy Times in a Sept. 2 email. The work converts the existing two-lane road into a four-lane boulevard.

Construction will be active along that segment through the estimated January 2027 completion.

Beyond the lane expansion, crews are installing additional curb inlets in the southbound lanes to improve drainage. The new inlets must meet Atlas 14 100-year storm event criteria, according to the Precinct 4 spokesperson.

Precinct 4 said it coordinated with utility owners before construction began to avoid delays. "At this point, we do not anticipate delays from CenterPoint or other utility owners," the spokesperson said.

The Katy Times reported that it asked Precinct 4 about a possible traffic signal at Peek Road and Peek Ridge Road. Precinct officials did not respond to that question.

The stretch of Peek Road farther north, from Stockdick School Road to Beckendorff Road, is in the planning and design phase, Precinct 4 officials said. That segment has drawn attention from residents who say it bottlenecks, KPRC reported on July 31.

Precinct 4 is also advancing the design of Clay Road, including improvements at the Clay Road and Katy Hockley Road intersection to increase capacity and install a permanent traffic signal, the Katy Times reported separately.
