A $13 million entertainment complex is taking shape at the former Xscape Theatre on FM 1093 in the Fulshear area, with construction set to begin in November.

EVO Entertainment, a Dallas-based chain founded by CEO Mitch Roberts, acquired the 6.8-acre property at 26616 FM 1093 on June 8 and closed the 12-screen Xscape the same day, Covering Katy first reported. The company plans to tear down roughly half of the existing 55,000-square-foot building and construct 35,000 to 40,000 square feet of new space, creating a venue that blends movies with family attractions.

A state filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), registered Oct. 13, pegs the project at $13 million and 70,280 square feet. The filing lists a Nov. 15 construction start and a June 15, 2027, completion target. The project is privately funded through West Katy Ventures LLC, the Dallas-based entity listed as owner.

The finished venue will keep seven movie screens, down from 12. Two will be EVX premium-format auditoriums more than 70 feet wide with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technology, according to Covering Katy's reporting. Beyond the theater, plans call for bowling lanes, more than 100 arcade games, laser tag, climbing walls, bumper cars, gravity ropes, a full-service restaurant and bar, and private event spaces.

Roberts told the Houston Business Journal that EVO now builds only mixed-entertainment centers rather than traditional theaters. He said the strategy makes the business "less dependent on film and the content slate," Covering Katy reported.

The Houston Chronicle reported Oct. 15 that no public opening date has been announced, though the company has said it is targeting summer 2027. The TDLR filing's June 15 date is a construction completion target, not a confirmed opening.

EVO operates six locations across Texas, with three more in development including the Fulshear site, according to the Chronicle. The company's design arm, EVOke Design + Architecture, is listed as the project's design firm in the TDLR filing.

The project arrives as residential growth along the FM 1093 corridor continues to bring new families to Fulshear and surrounding Fort Bend County communities. Details about hiring and a grand opening are expected in the coming months, the company said.
