Fulshear police used a drone and plainclothes detectives to intercept two vehicles suspected of following a bank customer near FM 1463 on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The department received information that people previously linked to suspected jugging activity were operating near the Grand Parkway and Westheimer, KHOU reporter Holly Galvan first reported. Jugging is a crime in which someone watches a bank or ATM customer and follows them, believing the person is carrying cash or valuables.

Around noon, detectives launched the department's drone near Fulshear Bend Lane and FM 1463. The drone located a vehicle tied to the investigation at a nearby bank, according to the Fulshear Police Department. Detectives in unmarked vehicles tracked two vehicles they believed were working together.

Around 12:25 p.m., both vehicles pulled away and began tailing a blue sedan that had just left the bank. The sedan's driver appeared unaware, police said. Uniformed patrol officers intervened before the situation escalated.

One driver was arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on separate, unrelated misdemeanor charges. The department did not release the person's name or specify the charges. The department has not said whether the investigation is ongoing.

The Fulshear Police Department urged residents leaving banks and ATMs to watch their surroundings. Anyone who believes they are being followed should not drive home, the department said, but instead call 911 and follow the dispatcher's instructions.
