Fulshear rolled to a 38-0 shutout of Richmond Foster on Thursday, Oct. 1, keeping the Chargers perfect in District 23-6A play and extending a winning streak that has turned heads across the Houston area.
The win at Guy K. Traylor Memorial Stadium in Rosenberg was Fulshear's second district victory in as many weeks. The Chargers opened league play with a 38-28 upset of then-No. 10 Waller in Week 5, a result that vaulted them to No. 10 in VYPE's Class 6A Houston-area rankings.
Fulshear entered Thursday's game at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district, according to the Fort Bend Herald. The shutout moved the Chargers to 2-0 in league play.
Thursday's blowout also continued Fulshear's dominance in the "War for Westpark" rivalry. The Fort Bend Herald reported the Chargers led the all-time series 4-0 entering the game. Thursday made it five straight since the series began in 2022.
Individual statistics from the Foster game were not available at publication. In the Week 5 win over Waller, sophomore quarterback Mason West completed 6 of 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. Senior Ryland Forks carried the ball 18 times for 113 yards and three scores. Junior wide receiver Trey Clewis caught three passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, averaging 34 yards per reception.
The defense has been stout. Junior Ouwatimileyin Joshua Odunlami led the team with two sacks entering Thursday's game, and Jaxton Drain had recorded an interception.
Foster fell to 0-2 in district based on pre-game records. The Falcons lost their district opener to George Ranch 28-14 on Saturday, Sept. 26. Foster head coach Shane Hanks said after that loss that quarterback Cannon Volf, returning from injury, was still finding his rhythm.
"Cannon looked a bit rusty and he was going through his mental reps, but he is working to get back because we have Fulshear next week …" Hanks told the Fort Bend Herald after the Saturday, Sept. 26, loss to George Ranch.
Fulshear's Week 7 opponent and date have not been confirmed. VYPE reported that Bridgeland, at 3-1 in district, is among the Chargers' remaining District 23-6A opponents.
