Jordan High School's Warriors beat Mayde Creek 44-8 in District 22-6A football Friday, Oct. 2, at Legacy Stadium in Fulshear.
The game started after a slight weather delay. Katy ISD Athletics said on X that the teams played four competitive quarters before Jordan pulled away for the lopsided final.
The result was never in doubt.
The victory improved Jordan's record to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in district play, according to MaxPreps. Head coach Mike Rabe's squad has now won back-to-back district games after beating Taylor 45-6 on Sept. 24, also at Legacy Stadium.
Jordan was not the only Katy ISD team to dominate Friday night. Katy shut out Seven Lakes 55-0 at Rhodes Stadium in another 22-6A game that also started after a rain delay, according to Katy ISD Athletics.
District 22-6A is made up entirely of nine Katy ISD campuses under the UIL's 2026-28 alignment. Each team plays eight district games, and the top four advance to the Class 6A playoffs.
At 4-1 and 3-1 in district, Jordan sits in the upper half of the standings and controls its path to the postseason. The Warriors went 9-4 overall and 6-2 in district last season under Rabe, reaching the playoffs.
In the Katy ISD fall sports preview published Aug. 31, Rabe said he was eager about the team's potential, citing its offseason work ethic and team chemistry.
Five games in, that offseason work is translating to lopsided results. Jordan outscored Taylor and Mayde Creek by a combined 89-14 in its last two district wins.
Mayde Creek head coach Mike Arogbonlo entered the season with high expectations for his program's preparation. "It's the first year since I've been here that we have been able to work throughout the entire offseason and properly prepare for the season," Arogbonlo said in the same Aug. 31 preview. The 44-8 loss dropped the Mustangs further behind in the nine-team district.
Jordan is scheduled to host Tompkins on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.
