Hopdoddy Burger Bar is headed to Katy with an $800,000 renovation at The Centre at Parkwest on Interstate 10.
The Austin-born burger chain filed a project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) on Oct. 30 for a 3,503-square-foot restaurant and 564-square-foot outdoor patio at 24646 Katy Freeway, Suite 100, as first reported by My Neighborhood News. The project will convert an existing vacant commercial space rather than build from the ground up.
Construction starts Dec. 1. The anticipated completion date is May 1, 2027. Hopdoddy has not announced an official grand opening date, and the construction completion date does not necessarily reflect when the restaurant will begin serving customers, according to My Neighborhood News.
The Katy location would become Hopdoddy's 11th in the Greater Houston area. The chain already operates in Cypress, CityCentre, Richmond Aliana, River Oaks, Rice Village, Heights Waterworks, Vintage Park, Baybrook, Stafford and The Woodlands, according to My Neighborhood News.
Hopdoddy started in 2010 in Austin. The company expanded its Texas footprint after acquiring Grub Burger Bar in 2022 and now operates in eight states.
Growing restaurant cluster
Hopdoddy is part of a larger dining cluster taking shape at The Centre at Parkwest, a roughly 4.5-acre development at the northeast corner of I-10 and Katy Fort Bend Road. Main Street Commercial Partners is developing the site, which sits near Katy Mills Mall, No Label Brewing Company and Legacy Stadium.
Two other restaurants have also filed TDLR permits for the development. The Kebab Shop filed for a 2,000-square-foot, $380,000 buildout at 24714 Katy Freeway, with a Dec. 1 construction start and May 1, 2027, completion target. Original ChopShop filed for a 3,200-square-foot, $450,000 finish-out at 24646 Katy Freeway, Suite 400, with work scheduled to begin Nov. 16 and wrap up by April 16, 2027.
Conceptual site plans also show Velvet Taco and Starbird as potential tenants, but those names appear only in marketing materials. The proposed lineup remains subject to change as leasing and construction progress, according to My Neighborhood News.
A separate TDLR filing outlines a 13,163-square-foot retail shell building at the site, estimated at $1.95 million, with a target completion in March 2027. All three confirmed restaurant buildouts and the shell building are scheduled to wrap up within weeks of each other next spring.
