Pumpkin patches across the Katy area are open for the fall season, giving families a half-dozen options for hayrides, photo ops and picking out the right gourd.
Blessington Farms
Blessington Farms, at 510 Chisolm Trail in Wallis, runs its fall festival Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 22. The Farm Funland includes more than 20 activities: hay wagon rides, a barrel train, a jump pad, Slide Mountain, gemstone mining and a new corn-kernel pit.
Pumpkins cost $2.50 to $12.99. Pumpkin painting is $6. Visitors can feed Karl the camel for $3 or meet Bob the kangaroo, Roman the zebra and llamas Judy and Jane.
A fall season pass is $39.95 per person, according to MyCurlyAdventures. Seniors 65 and older pay $18. Children under 2 get in free. Weekend hours vary across listings, so check blessingtonfarms.com for current times.
First Christian Church Katy
First Christian Church Katy's pumpkin patch at 22101 Morton Ranch Road is open daily until dark through Nov. 7. The patch features photo stations, fall activities and pumpkins for purchase. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Proceeds support the church's advocacy work in the Katy community.
Katy First United Methodist Church
Katy's First United Methodist Church at 5601 5th Street has its pumpkin patch open every day in October from noon to 6 p.m., according to Katy Magazine.
St. Peter's UMC
St. Peter's United Methodist Church operates two pumpkin patches, according to Katy Magazine. The Kingsland Campus at 20775 Kingsland Blvd. is open weekdays from 1 to 6 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The West Campus at 4700 FM 1463 is open weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The church's annual Pick-A-Dilly Market returns Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kingsland Campus. The event draws nearly 1,000 visitors in a typical year, according to the church. It features more than 100 vendors, crafts, food, live music and a pumpkin patch, Covering Katy reported. Proceeds support St. Peter's Missions Ministry.
Mama N's Pumpkin Patch
Mama N's Pumpkin Patch at 4034 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road is open weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The patch is also hosting movie nights throughout the season. Follow Mama N's on Facebook for the schedule.
Nearby farms
Two larger farms just outside Katy round out the options.
Oil Ranch at 23501 Macedonia Road in Hockley opened Saturday, Oct. 3, and runs through Nov. 21. Attractions include hayrides, pony rides, a petting zoo and more than 20 activities. Tickets start at $21.95 online. Children 12 and younger receive one free pumpkin with admission, the Houston Chronicle reported. A weekend Pumpkin Carving with Goats event runs through October; adult tickets are $26 and include a pumpkin.
Dewberry Farm at 7705 FM 362 in Brookshire is open through Nov. 8 with a corn maze, hayrides and pumpkin carving. The farm is celebrating 75 years of Peanuts with a themed corn maze, a life-sized Pumpkin House and new rides including the Gold Rush Coaster and Pumpkin Twister. Tickets require a timed entry and must be purchased online.
