Two Harmony Public Schools campuses in Katy landed in the top 10 charter schools in Texas in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Harmony Science Academy-Katy Elementary ranked No. 9 among charter elementary schools in the state, according to the Houston Chronicle's breakdown of the 2027 Best Elementary and Middle Schools list. Harmony Science Academy-Katy Middle ranked No. 7 among charter middle schools statewide.

The Katy elementary campus is part of Harmony Public Schools' Houston West district, according to the Chronicle's listing.

Both campuses were among a broader sweep for the charter network. Every Harmony elementary and middle school in its Houston-area districts made the U.S. News national list of top K-8 public schools, the charter system announced Oct. 21. Two Sugar Land campuses also placed in the state's top 10: Harmony Science Academy-Sugar Land among charter elementary schools and Harmony School of Excellence-Sugar Land Middle among charter middle schools.

U.S. News evaluated roughly 46,000 public elementary campuses and more than 24,000 middle schools nationwide, the Chronicle reported. The rankings weigh four measures equally at 25 percent each: math proficiency, reading and language arts proficiency, math performance compared with modeled expectations and reading and language arts performance compared with modeled expectations. Student demographics factor into the analysis.

Harmony Public Schools describes itself as the largest STEM-focused charter public school network in Texas. The system operates more than 60 campuses serving pre-K through 12th grade in 23 cities statewide. Its Houston South and Houston West districts together cover 30 campuses in Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Cypress, Spring, Beaumont and Bryan.

The charter network says it maintains a 98 percent high school graduation rate and a 100 percent college acceptance rate among graduating seniors, according to the announcement.

Families interested in the Katy campuses can apply during Harmony's open enrollment period, which runs through Feb. 10, 2027. Applications are accepted online or at the nearest campus. Any campus that receives more applications than available seats will select students through a blind lottery, with parents notified in the spring.
