Taylor rolled past Cinco Ranch 36-13 at Legacy Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 1, in a District 22-6A game interrupted by multiple storm delays.

The Mustangs led wire to wire.

Taylor put up 36 points against a Cinco Ranch defense that managed just 13 in response, according to the MaxPreps box score. A detailed quarter-by-quarter breakdown was not available from the partial scoring data.

Storms forced multiple stoppages throughout the night. The game was originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., but Katy ISD Athletics did not post its recap until Friday, Oct. 2, describing the contest as a hard-fought game after both teams dealt with the elements and multiple delays.

The win snaps a two-game skid for head coach Chris Babin's Taylor squad. The Mustangs opened the season with non-district wins over Oak Ridge (21-14 on Aug. 28) and Fort Bend Austin (38-19 on Sept. 4), then beat Mayde Creek 35-13 in their district opener on Sept. 10. Back-to-back district losses to Tompkins (29-12 on Sept. 18) and Jordan (45-6 on Sept. 24) had dropped Taylor to 3-2 before Thursday's bounce-back. The Mustangs now stand at 4-2 overall and 2-2 in district play, good for fourth place in District 22-6A.

For Cinco Ranch head coach Chris Dudley, the loss extends a slide in the opposite direction. The Cougars opened district play with wins over Morton Ranch (49-7 on Sept. 11) and Paetow (28-20 on Sept. 19) but have now dropped two straight, falling 30-3 to Katy on Sept. 25 before Thursday's result. Cinco Ranch sits at 2-3 overall and 2-2 in district, one spot behind Taylor at fifth place. Dudley, who received the Houston Texans Coach of the Week award earlier this season, will look to right the ship quickly with the second half of district play ahead.

Both teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 9. Taylor travels to Seven Lakes for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Cinco Ranch hosts Mayde Creek at 7 p.m.
