Enrollment at the University of Houston Katy Campus jumped roughly 49% in fall 2026 compared with the same point a year ago, according to a UH president's update published in a September 2026 letter.

The surge marks the second straight year of sharp growth at the three-story campus on Grand Circle Boulevard near Interstate 10 and the Grand Parkway. In fall 2025, the Katy location saw a 73% enrollment increase, bringing it to nearly 1,000 students, Community Impact reported.

My Neighborhood News pegged the fall 2026 growth figure at nearly 52%, citing preliminary data. UH's own communications office and the president's letter both cite nearly 49%.

The campus is also adding programs.

New degree options at the Katy campus for fall 2026 include an AI-focused master's degree, a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Engineering and a cross-disciplinary Master of Engineering. All three come from the Cullen College of Engineering, according to the president's update. Face-to-face and hybrid course sections at the Katy campus grew by more than 20%, My Neighborhood News reported.

Four additional UH colleges expanded their presence at the Katy location in fall 2026: the C. T. Bauer College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. They join existing programs from the Cullen College of Engineering and the Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing.

The Katy Area Economic Development Council noted in June 2026 that Bauer's expansion brings undergraduate business courses and executive education directly into the Katy business community.

"We're seeing a lot of momentum in Katy … We have more students on campus, more classes and more academic options," Dr. Jay Neal, associate vice president for academic affairs and chief operating officer for UH's Sugar Land and Katy campuses, told My Neighborhood News.

The roughly 80,000-square-foot Katy Academic Building opened for classes in fall 2019 with nursing and engineering as its primary programs. Combined, UH's Sugar Land and Katy campuses now serve more than 5,300 students, the president's update stated.

UH has asked the Texas Legislature for additional facilities in Katy and Sugar Land as part of its budget request for the 90th Legislative Session, contingent on passage of the Capital Construction Assistance Projects program.

Families interested in seeing the campus can attend "Destination UH: Katy, Texas," an open house scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 22400 Grand Circle Blvd.
