Katy-area football fans will be able to watch every UIL state championship game free on local television or streaming in December.

Nexstar Media Group and Mission Broadcasting announced Oct. 30 that their Texas stations and streaming platforms will carry all 12 University Interscholastic League (UIL) state football title games live, CW39 reported. In the Houston market, games will be available on KIAH or the CW39+ streaming platform, or both.

The championships run Dec. 16-19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. For Katy ISD families tracking playoff races, the 6A Division II final is set for Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m., and the 6A Division I final closes the schedule Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.

Both the Katy Tigers and Tompkins Falcons enter the final stretch of the regular season in strong position. Katy sat at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in district play heading into its Oct. 30 game at Katy Taylor, ranked No. 13 among Texas 6A programs, according to MaxPreps. Tompkins stood at 6-1 in district (second place) after beating Morton Ranch 45-14 on Oct. 29.

The broadcast arrangement covers every classification. The full schedule at AT&T Stadium:

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar's broadcasting division, said the company is "excited to use the combined reach of our television stations and digital platforms to give fans more ways to watch these student-athletes compete for a state championship."

Dr. Jamey Harrison, executive director of the UIL, said the league is "pleased that fans will be able to watch them through streaming and local television broadcasts across Texas."

Nexstar noted that which games air on over-the-air TV versus streaming may vary by market. Viewers should check local listings closer to December for Houston-specific details.

Katy closes its regular season Nov. 6 against Mayde Creek. Tompkins travels to Paetow on Nov. 5.
