Zack and Carmen Kuru plan to open PERA Cocktails and Kitchen in mid-November at 6845 Peek Road, Suite 210, in northwest Katy.
The husband-and-wife team ran former Katy favorites Drix, Bricco and Midpoint Bar. Their new lounge will serve craft cocktails, wine, small plates and cheese boards near the Elyson neighborhood, My Neighborhood News first reported. An exact opening date has not been announced.
"PERA has been a long time coming for us," the Kurus told My Neighborhood News. "We've always wanted to create a place that feels special without being formal …"
The concept leans on cocktails and wine rather than a full dinner menu. Food will be shareable plates and cheese boards. Full menus and operating hours have not been released.
The Kurus have spent years in the Greater Houston restaurant and bar scene. Beyond their Katy ventures, they also operated BeerForest in The Woodlands. The couple lives in Katy and raised two children who graduated from Taylor High School.
PERA's suite sits in a commercial development near Freeman Road that is drawing several tenants. R&R CraftHouse Grill, a Cypress-based restaurant, has planned a location in Suite 100 at the same address. That restaurant had targeted a September 2026 opening, but its current status has not been confirmed. Alchemy Bake Lab, a bakery with a local following, is joining the development in Suite 230.
The stretch of Peek Road north of the Grand Parkway is also in the middle of a $1.162 million widening project that will convert the two-lane road to a four-lane boulevard, the Katy Times reported Sept. 9. A Harris County Precinct 4 spokesperson told the Katy Times the project is expected to finish in January 2027.
As neighborhoods like Elyson and Anniston have grown, more restaurants and retail businesses have set up shop along Peek Road. Culver's opened a Katy location farther along the corridor in August 2025.
