Katy, Fulshear fall festivals run September through November

Pumpkin patches, fall festivals and community markets fill the Katy and Fulshear calendar from mid-September through late November.

Dewberry Farm in Brookshire, 7705 FM 362, opens its fall festival on weekends starting Saturday, Sept. 12 and running through Nov. 8, according to Mommy Poppins. The farm features more than 40 rides and attractions, an 8-acre corn maze, barnyard animals and pumpkins.

The farm is cashless in most areas, does not allow outside food and has unpaved terrain. After dark on select nights, BOOriffic Nights adds lighted displays and Halloween attractions better suited to older children.

Blessington Farms in Simonton, 510 Chisolm Trail, opens its Fall on the Farm weekends from Sept. 19 through Nov. 22, according to My Neighborhood News. The lineup includes more than 20 activities: hay wagon rides, a barrel train, jump pad, slide mountain, animal encounters, gemstone mining and a corn-kernel pit. Pumpkins and pumpkin painting cost extra.

Smith Ranch, 25440 Beckendorff Rd. in Katy, hosts its Fall Festival & Vendor Market on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the ranch's Instagram page. Admission is free. The event includes local vendors, pumpkin picking, pumpkin carving, ceramic painting and food.

The Patch at First Christian Church Katy opens Sept. 29 at 22101 Morton Ranch Rd. The church has not published a closing date or daily hours, so families should check before visiting.

The Katy Rice Harvest Festival returns to Historic Downtown Katy at 2nd St. and Avenue B on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11. Headliners Lonestar and Neal McCoy top the lineup, Katy Magazine reported. The festival distributed more than $100,000 in scholarships to local students last year.

In a Sept. 2 Katy Magazine article, Kaci Maris, the City of Katy's tourism and marketing event coordinator, said the festival "began as a way to honor the area's rice farming heritage." The festival parade rolls through Downtown Katy on Oct. 3, and parade registration is $25 and benefits the Rotary Fund.

The Pick-A-Dilly Market at St. Peter's United Methodist Church Kingsland Campus, 20775 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy, is set for Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The one-day market brings more than 100 vendors, crafts, food, live music, holiday decorations and a pumpkin patch.

Nearly 1,000 people attend in a typical year, according to the church. Proceeds fund St. Peter's Missions Ministry.

The Fulshear Scarecrow Festival at Fulshear High School, 9302 Charger Way, rounds out the month. The Fulshear Regional Chamber of Commerce organizes the event, which features a pumpkin patch, Kid Zone, costume contest and scarecrow contest. The Chamber's event page lists Monday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while another listing shows Saturday, Oct. 24. Families should confirm the date with the Chamber before attending.
