More than 150 exhibitors, local businesses and community groups will fill the Leonard E. Merrell Center on Saturday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 23, for the Katy Home & Outdoor Living Show and Katy Community Expo.

The two-day event, now in its 20th year, combines home improvement and remodeling vendors with a community expo featuring local organizations and resources. Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday and close at 5 p.m.; Sunday hours run 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6301 S. Stadium Lane.

Advance tickets are free when reserved online at KatyHomeandOutdoorLivingShow.com. Walk-up admission is $5.

Educators, first responders and military personnel get in free all day Sunday with a valid ID, according to the Katy Times.

Beyond the main exhibit hall, the show features a Thrive After 55+ Expo with health, wellness and lifestyle resources for older adults, plus a Kids' Market on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. upstairs, where young entrepreneurs sell handmade crafts, treats and other creations. Other draws include free bingo with prizes for guests 21 and older, hourly giveaways both days, a Kitchen & Bath Ideas section, a Mini-Gift Market and a traveling Biblical Archaeology Museum exhibit.

The show is produced by RJC Event Group, founded in 2005 by Robyn and Jeff Cade. Jeff Cade, raised in Katy and a Sam Houston State University graduate, handles marketing and design for the company's events. The couple launched the original Katy Home & Garden Show at the Merrell Center in January 2007 and rebranded it to reflect growing demand for outdoor living products.

The event falls the weekend after Katy ISD's first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Advance registration is open now at KatyHomeandOutdoorLivingShow.com.
