Andrew Marsh left Katy Jordan High School as a four-star recruit. Heading into his sophomore season at the University of Michigan, the 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver has become the Wolverines' most reliable weapon in the passing game.

Marsh caught 45 passes for 651 yards and four touchdowns as a true freshman in 2025, leading Michigan in all three categories. He did not record a single drop all season, according to CBS Sports, which ranked him No. 104 on its preseason Top 150 players list for 2026. ESPN listed him as an honorable mention among the nation's top wide receivers entering this fall.

The breakout moment came Nov. 15, 2025, at Wrigley Field. Marsh hauled in 12 catches for 189 yards against Northwestern, setting single-game records for a Michigan freshman in both categories dating to at least 1979. Those 12 receptions rank fifth in a single game in program history, regardless of class year. The performance earned him Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. Marsh spoke with former Michigan receivers Desmond Howard and Roy Roundtree afterward, with Roundtree congratulating him on breaking his freshman record, according to Maize n Brew.

Marsh credited his Texas football roots after that game.

"I would say it definitely helped prepare me," Marsh told reporters in November 2025. "Football in the south is a lot different really than everywhere else in my opinion. So just being able to experience that I feel like definitely helped me get here."

At Katy Jordan, Marsh piled up more than 3,500 career receiving yards and 36 touchdowns, setting a school record with 1,172 receiving yards as a senior. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten and Freshman All-American recognition from 247Sports after his first college season, then announced in January he would return to Ann Arbor rather than enter the transfer portal.

Now the centerpiece of Michigan's receiving corps alongside Utah transfer JJ Buchanan, Marsh faces a gauntlet. The Wolverines' 2026 schedule includes six ranked opponents: No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Oregon, No. 6 Indiana, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 17 Penn State and No. 22 Iowa. Michigan was picked fifth in the Big Ten preseason media poll under first-year head coach Kyle Whittingham.

During fall camp on Aug. 8, Marsh told reporters the team's goal is to win the Big Ten, calling matchups against ranked opponents "money games."

Katy and Fulshear fans can watch Marsh and the Wolverines open the season Sept. 5 against Western Michigan at Michigan Stadium. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. Central on NBC and Peacock.
