Four Katy-area high school contestants will walk the runway on Sunday, Aug. 30, when the Fort Bend County Fair kicks off its 90th anniversary season with "Reign in Style," a new fashion show fundraiser at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg.

The event gives residents a chance to meet the 20 young women competing for the 2026 Fair Queen crown before the fair opens Sept. 25. Doors open at 2 p.m. in Building C at 4310 Hwy. 36 South, according to the Katy Times.

Among the contestants are Sophia Robbins, a senior at Cinco Ranch High School; Madeleine Munoz, a junior at Seven Lakes High School; and seniors Dakota LeMaire and Gianna Jarlowe, both from Clements High School. They'll compete alongside students from Needville, George Ranch, Foster, Lamar Consolidated and other Fort Bend County schools.

The afternoon includes a runway show featuring seasonal fashion from local Fort Bend County boutiques, followed by shopping, light bites and refreshments. Proceeds support the Queen Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships to contestants and provides mentorship through a committee of former Fair Queens, their mothers and community volunteers.

"Reign in Style" revives a tradition. For years the fair hosted "Style in the Bend," a fashion show where scholarship contestants were introduced to the community before fair season. The new event updates that format for the fair's milestone year.

The winner will be crowned on Opening Day, Friday, Sept. 25, and will serve as the fair's official ambassador throughout the 10-day run, appearing at livestock shows, auctions and community events during a yearlong reign. The 2026 fair runs Sept. 25 through Oct. 4.

New fair manager Joel Rose, a 20-year Air Force veteran who flew aboard Air Force One and previously led the Osceola County Fair in Kissimmee, Florida, said in an Aug. 5 announcement that county fairs are "where communities come together" and about "creating memories that last for generations."

Tickets and table reservations are available at fortbendcountyfair.com or by calling the Fair Office at 281-342-6171. Pricing was not listed online.
