Lowe's will open a 95,000-square-foot store at 981 Heritage Oak Lane on Friday, Sept. 4, bringing more than 100 jobs to a West Katy corridor where the residential population has grown 56% since 2020.

Doors open at 9 a.m. The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony the same day, according to Covering Katy News.

The store sits inside Texas Heritage Marketplace, the $400 million mixed-use development by NewQuest Properties at the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Texas Heritage Parkway. Store manager Mike Spall said the location reflects the area's rapid residential growth.

"Katy is growing fast and we're excited to help support this community's growth and be a resource for our neighbors for generations to come," Spall said in a statement released Aug. 26.

Beyond the main retail floor, the store includes 30,000 square feet of outdoor garden space. It will be among the first Lowe's locations nationwide to debut a redesigned tool section with wider aisles, lower fixtures and a simplified open layout, according to a Katy Times report.

A redesigned kitchen showroom includes larger appliance displays and interactive room setups, with QR codes linking to online design tools.

For contractors and homebuilders, the store offers direct-to-jobsite delivery from participating suppliers and AI-powered tools that convert project plans into material lists.

Lowe's of West Katy is hiring for more than 100 full- and part-time positions. Candidates can apply on the Lowe's careers page.

The opening adds to a wave of retail activity at Texas Heritage Marketplace. About 85% to 90% of the 165-acre development had been preleased as of July 2026, according to Community Impact. Target is expected to open in October, and Sam's Club is under construction with no announced date. Whataburger has already opened at the front of the development.

The broader development is projected to generate roughly $3 million in annual sales tax revenue for the city of Katy, according to the Katy Economic Development Council. A $320 million TxDOT expansion of I-10 near the site, set to begin in late 2026, will widen the highway to 10 lanes, according to the same report.

Next up for shoppers: Target's October opening and continued construction on Academy Sports + Outdoors, Burlington, Spec's and more than a dozen other announced tenants.
