The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, which has raised more than $7.5 million for Texas Children's Hospital since 1945, is gearing up for its 81st season with a volunteer committee meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, and a slate of fall events ahead of the four-week show in spring 2027.
The volunteer-driven organization is actively recruiting new helpers for the upcoming season. Prospective volunteers can attend the Thursday meeting and RSVP online at pinoak.org. A separate volunteer interest form is also available through the organization's website for those who cannot attend in person.
The main show runs March 24 through April 18, 2027, at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center, 2501 S. Mason Road in Katy, where riders from across the country compete each year.
Founded by J.S. Abercrombie in 1945, Pin Oak is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious charity horse shows in the country, according to the Katy Times. The organization raised $280,930 for Texas Children's Hospital during its most recent show season, according to its announcements page.
For the 2027 season, Pin Oak is launching a new "Horses of Pin Oak" feature, inviting horse owners to submit their horse's story. The organization said in an August email blast that the program highlights the bond between horses and the people who care for them, and encouraged owners to share what makes their partnership special.
