Seven Lakes High School students are selling handmade pottery to raise money for hospitalized children, one of three new clubs launched on campus in fall 2026.

Pottery for a Purpose, Life in Tehran and Spartans Against Vaping each formed for the 2026–27 school year, according to The Torch, the school's student newspaper. Reporter Anne Nguyen profiled the clubs in a Sept. 8 article. They are among several new organizations on campus.

Pottery for a Purpose, led by president Charlotte Rangwalla, gives students a creative outlet with a charitable goal. Members make pottery and sell their work at local farmers' markets, with proceeds going to children at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

"I feel like people don't have hobbies anymore … I just feel like it's a fun hobby, and you can also de-stress," Rangwalla told The Torch.

Life in Tehran, led by president Rania Tarhande, centers on Iranian culture. Tarhande said she started the club to offer classmates a fuller picture of Iran, beyond the political conflicts often tied to the country. She cited a large Iranian population at Seven Lakes as part of her motivation.

Tarhande told The Torch she wanted to give the campus a "refresher" on what her country and its culture are about, and to celebrate the school's diversity.

Spartans Against Vaping, founded by junior Saranya Vermuri, tackles a health issue head-on. The club runs student-led campaigns and posts informational material around campus about the risks of vaping.

About 2 million U.S. middle and high school students reported using tobacco products in 2025, according to the Food and Drug Administration's analysis of the National Youth Tobacco Survey, published in June 2026. E-cigarette use among students declined from 2022 to 2025, but vaping remains a concern on campuses nationwide.

Vermuri told The Torch that teens get addicted to vaping partly because they do not understand its health effects. Her club's goal is to encourage students to prioritize their well-being.

The three clubs join a broader wave of new student organizations at Seven Lakes for the 2026–27 school year.
