Warner Bros. chose Historic Downtown Katy as the only venue in the greater Houston area to host a promotional event for Practical Magic 2, bringing themed photo booths, free margaritas and tarot card readings to the city's Rock the Block party Saturday, Aug. 22.

The free event runs 7 to 10 p.m. in the Historic Town Center.

Warner Bros. approached the City of Katy after researching its Town Square events and deciding the series was a good fit for the film's rollout, according to Katy Magazine Online. No other Houston-area city landed the partnership.

"Saturday is our Rock the Block event," said Kaci Maris, City of Katy Tourism & Marketing event coordinator. "It's a throwback night, we'll have an 80's live music band here. This is originally what the event was."

Then Warner Bros. called.

The studio is supplying Practical Magic 2-themed photo booths and promotional giveaways. Katy's Moon Girl Boutique, a shop at 5722 3rd St. that specializes in spiritual tools and intuitive readings, will offer tarot card readings in keeping with the film's witchy premise. Sector-A Band will perform live music, and food and drinks come from the Old Katy Patio.

Free "Midnight Margaritas" will be served while supplies last. Guests must show a valid ID.

Retro entertainment, LED lighting and classic arcade games round out the lineup.

Practical Magic 2, the sequel to the 1998 cult classic, stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprising their roles as the Owens sisters alongside newcomers Joey King and Maisie Williams, according to Variety. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film opens in theaters Sept. 11.

Kidman thanked fans for their support in getting the sequel made during a Cinespia screening of the original film at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 16, as reported by Variety.
