The Fulshear Police Department wants neighbors to step outside, meet their local officers and get to know the people next door on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when the city hosts National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m.

The main celebration will take place in the Fulshear City Hall parking lot at 6611 W. Cross Creek Bend Lane, My Neighborhood News reported. Families can explore police and fire vehicles, talk with officers and first responders, and meet K-9 Blu, who serves with the department's K-9 unit.

Community mascot Sergeant McCann will also appear.

Block parties welcome

Neighborhoods that want their own gathering can register for a police officer visit. Organizers should email Captain Mike McCoy at [email protected] with the organizer's name, phone number and the address of the party. Officers will rotate through registered events between 6 and 8 p.m.

The deadline to register a neighborhood block party is Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Fulshear's rapid growth

The event comes as Fulshear continues to add thousands of new residents. The city was the second-fastest growing U.S. city with a population of 20,000 or more from mid-2024 to mid-2025, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates reported by Houston Public Media. Fulshear's population reached roughly 54,629 in 2025, a 211% increase since 2020.

The department's broader outreach efforts have included Coffee with the Cops, a Citizens Police Academy, HOA meetings and youth-focused activities. National Night Out, a nationwide initiative involving about 17,000 communities, is part of that lineup.
