Katy drivers will lose access to the Bluebonnet Lane and Birch Street intersection starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, for approximately two weeks.
The City of Katy posted the closure alert on X on Monday, Oct. 12. Northbound Bluebonnet Lane traffic will remain open.
The other three approaches require detours:
- Southbound on Bluebonnet Lane: Take Cedar to Aster to Ash.
- Eastbound on Birch Street: Take Carnation to Ash to Aster.
- Westbound on Birch Street: Take Aster to Ash to Carnation.
AAA Asphalt Paving, Inc., the contractor handling the work, will close the intersection on behalf of the city, according to a City of Katy Facebook post.
The closure falls within the scope of the city's West Katy Drainage Improvements Project, a roughly 12-month effort that began in late February and includes street work on Bluebonnet Lane and Birch Street. The city has not announced a firm reopening date and said updates would be provided as necessary.
