Zio Al's Pizza & Pasta, a Dallas-Fort Worth chain open until 3 a.m., has opened in Katy.

The restaurant is at 1522 W. Grand Pkwy. S., in the Kroger center at Highland Knolls and Bay Hill boulevards, the Katy Times reported. The menu features hand-tossed pizza, pasta, wings, sandwiches, salads and desserts. Halal options are available.

The Katy location is the chain's first in the Greater Houston area, according to Community Impact.

Founder Alex Frijat started Zio Al's in 2010 in Carrollton after working as a pizza delivery driver. The chain now has nine locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

Hours run from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. seven days a week. A company spokesperson told the Katy Times the late-night schedule is central to the brand's identity.

"Whether it's a Tuesday at 1 a.m. or a Saturday after the crowd clears out, the kitchen is running and the food is fresh," the spokesperson said. "Late night is kind of our thing."

Local social media pages in Katy frequently ask where to eat after 10 p.m., the Katy Times noted.

Specialty pizzas include the Gyro Lovers, topped with tzatziki sauce, gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, black olives and mozzarella. The Samba Pizza features turkey ham, breakfast bacon and corn. A Chicken Pesto option comes with pesto sauce, diced chicken, tomato, black olives and mozzarella. Customers can also build their own pizza, choosing size, crust, cheese and toppings, according to Community Impact.

Delivery is available through the restaurant's online ordering system at zioals.com/katy, and walk-ins are welcome. The phone number is (281) 396-4177.

The chain may not stop at Katy. Zio Al's filed two project listings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for new locations in Houston's Greater Heights and Montrose neighborhoods, Community Impact reported Aug. 12. No opening dates have been announced for those sites.
