The Katy Home & Outdoor Living Show hits a milestone Saturday and Sunday: 20 years of connecting area homeowners with vendors, contractors and designers under one roof at the Merrell Center.

The fall edition of the show, paired with the Katy Community Expo, runs Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6301 S. Stadium Lane. Organizers list more than 150 exhibitors across both events, according to RJC Event Group's website.

Robyn and Jeff Cade, who founded RJC Event Group in 2005, launched the show as the Katy Home & Garden Show in January 2007. Jeff Cade, a Houston native raised in Katy and Sam Houston State University graduate, serves as the company's marketing and IT director. The show was later rebranded to reflect growing demand for outdoor living products and services, and after a COVID-era pause, the fall edition was relaunched.

The show has grown steadily. RJC Event Group describes it on its website as one of the premier home events in the Greater Houston area, drawing thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors each season.

As we reported Aug. 13, admission is free with advance online registration or $5 at the door.

What's new at the expo

The Katy Community Expo, organized by the Home for the Holidays Gift Market team, is divided into five themed sections: Home Sweet Home (remodeling and landscaping), Fun Foods (bakers and cafes), Business Bureau (banking, insurance and professional services), Wellness Way (health and fitness) and Crafter's Corner (handmade arts, jewelry and candles).

The Gift Market team, a mother-daughter company founded in 2008, reports donating more than $500,000 to Houston-area charities since its founding, supporting food pantries and organizations assisting women, children and people facing rehabilitation needs.

A Donation Station will collect clothing, dry goods and other items for local charities on both days. Families can head upstairs for a dedicated children's area with hands-on activities, LEGO brick play, face painting and interactive stations.

Both days feature live demonstrations, giveaways and interactive displays.
