A national classic-car dealer plans to open a 56,000-square-foot showroom at 500 Commerce Parkway in Katy during the fourth quarter of 2026, bringing 260 to 300 collector vehicles to the Commerce Parkway corridor.

Streetside Classics, co-founded by Bob and Donna Mueller in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2008, announced the expansion on July 29, according to My Neighborhood News. The Katy facility will be the company's seventh location nationwide and its second in Texas, joining its Fort Worth showroom.

The site sits just north of the upcoming Texas Heritage Marketplace development along Commerce Parkway.

Why Katy

Derek Love, Streetside Classics' marketing and technology manager, told the Houston Chronicle the company had been eyeing the Houston market since 2019 but delayed the opening because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Love said the company chose Katy because of the area's car culture and variety of enthusiast communities.

The Katy location is Streetside Classics' first new market since it expanded to Phoenix in 2017.

What's inside

The climate-controlled showroom will function as a walk-through experience closer to a museum than a traditional dealership. Hydraulic lifts will let buyers inspect the undercarriage of vehicles before purchase, according to Street Muscle Magazine.

Expected inventory ranges from early-1900s models to modern exotics, including Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, Dodge Chargers and classic trucks.

Streetside Classics operates a no-cost consignment model: staff handle photography, marketing, pricing and buyer negotiations while the vehicle stays secured in the showroom. The company also buys select vehicles outright and accepts trade-ins.

The numbers

The company reports selling roughly 3,000 vehicles per year across its six existing locations, which collectively hold more than 1,600 cars at any given time. Streetside Classics says its staff do not receive incentives to push specific vehicles.

Co-founder and chairwoman Donna Mueller said in the July 29 announcement that the company hopes to host car shows, welcome local car clubs and serve as a year-round gathering space for Houston-area enthusiasts.

"We hope to be a hub for the growing enthusiast community by hosting car shows, welcoming car clubs, and always being a place where you can come see that car your dad had," Mueller said.

Streetside Classics has already begun accepting consignment applications for the Katy showroom. No firm opening date has been set. The company's Houston page lists the target as fourth-quarter 2026 and the address as 500 Commerce Parkway, Katy, TX 77494.
