Target will open a 148,000-square-foot store at 29355 Katy Freeway on Sunday, Oct. 11, adding about 200 jobs to the Texas Heritage Marketplace development along Interstate 10.

The retailer is calling the location its "Katy Heritage" store. It will be Target's fourth location in the Katy market, according to Covering Katy News.

The store will include a CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks and Target Optical. Covered drive-up lanes and order pickup will also be available. Target said the location will carry an expanded selection of fresh produce, meat and dairy products. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Marketplace taking shape

Texas Heritage Marketplace is a 165-acre, roughly $400 million mixed-use project developed by NewQuest Properties at I-10 and Texas Heritage Parkway. As of July, officials said 85% to 90% of the development had been preleased, Community Impact Newspaper reported.

Lowe's opened its roughly 95,000-square-foot store at 981 Heritage Oak Lane on Sept. 4 with more than 100 employees. Whataburger is also already open. Sam's Club is under construction, and NewQuest has said that store is targeting a January opening, though Sam's Club has not confirmed a date.

Other announced retailers include Academy Sports + Outdoors, Burlington, Spec's, Ulta Beauty, EoS Fitness, James Avery and Mattress Firm. Restaurants on the tenant list include Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Escalante's, Tony C's Pizza & Beer Garden, Jersey Mike's and The Kebab Shop.

"With a project this size, we typically develop it in phases … But the demand for retail in this high-growth area is immediate so everyone is committed to getting it done as quickly as possible," NewQuest managing director of leasing David Meyers told Covering Katy News in an Aug. 18 article.
