Waller County Sheriff's Office deputies, who patrol unincorporated Waller County and the northern Katy area, seized MDMA during a traffic stop Monday, Aug. 3, and arrested one person, Sheriff Troy Guidry's office announced in a press release that day.

No suspect was named.

The sheriff's office did not release the exact location of the stop or the quantity of drugs seized. Evidence photos published with the announcement show items labeled as MDMA, a Schedule I controlled substance. Formal charges against the arrested individual have not been confirmed.

The arrest was one of at least two narcotics enforcement actions the Waller County Sheriff's Office publicized Monday. A separate press release announced the agency's K9 unit had also taken drugs off the streets that day. The office did not specify whether the two incidents were connected or involved the same stop.

The Waller County Sheriff's Office covers the corridor connecting northern Katy-area communities to the broader Houston region, a stretch that sees heavy commuter and commercial traffic daily. The agency, led by Guidry since he became the 19th sheriff in its 153-year history, has publicized multiple narcotics operations in recent weeks.
